Liyang
Liyang is approximately 20 miles from Dipolog City, the only means of transportation to go to Liyang is by vans, or naturally if you can afford a vehicle so much better for you. Andrea was very adamant in showing me her birthplace. Most of the neighbors are related to one another, when walking on the only road of Liyang I was offered to have a drink with some partiers you may see them in photo (18), I was also greeted by pool players photo (23). It was a great pleasure and honor to visit Liyang specially it was Andrea's birth place. Before we headed out for Liyang we had a few errands to do, and naturally a nice salad (Andrea is mixing it well). In every home we stopped we where extremely well greeted, kids loved the candies that I brought for the occasion from the US, Andrea is passing them out (photos 7-8). We all gathered in a home on top of the hill (photos 27-28) at Victor's and Marla's, a few things that really impressed me while in Liyang; was a sign on an outside window near the door (photo 9)that said "Welcome Visitor", the same sign was also place on an inside wall. When I met Marla in her home her first word to me was "Welcome in my Home", now that was very sweet of her to welcome a foreigner in her home. I will never forget visiting this little village, meeting Andrea's Dad (photos 15-16), aunts, uncles, and a zillion of cousins seeing a photo of her grandparents on a wall (13). Photos of the local school are (20-21-22). The atmosphere of the village was inviting, extremely quiet, and pleasant. No cars, trucks, trains busing by, only the sound of children playing in the distance. We will return one day to Liyang to visit these wonderful people.
